Back home, on the deck shrouded in darkness, Striker reclined in the lounge chair with an equally nude Natasha in his lap. She rested her head against his neck with her eyes closed. Glad to be home, Striker stroked her velvety skin while watching a cruiser maneuver downriver, tracking buoys with a bright light.

“I wish we could be this way forever,” Natasha said in a soft tone.

“Me too,” he said, his voice matching hers.

She held out her hand and studied the wedding band. “I liked being married to you.”

He smiled. “It was fun.”

She straightened and gave him a serious look.

“What?”

“Do you know how happy you make me, Jonce? How wonderful my life is with you?”

“If it’s any small part of how happy you make me, yeah.”

“I love you more than my life, you know that, don’t you?”

“As I do you.”

She settled back against him and they lapsed into a comfortable silence.

Natasha could feel Striker staring at her and tilted her head back to gaze at him. “What?”

“I was thinking about what you said in that meeting, your reference to love spankings.”

She grinned.

He raised his eyebrows. “There something you want to tell me?”

She playfully slapped his chest.
